Typical applications: base coat for natural, lime-based mineral paints — such as Terre et Lumière smooth or textured lime paints.
This primer is made from natural, eco-friendly materials and is specifically formulated for use beneath lime-based paints and coatings, both indoors and outdoors. It’s an excellent choice for preparing surfaces before painting, helping the top coat adhere better and achieve a more even, durable finish.
The primer has a creamy, semi-textured white appearance when applied.
Terre et Lumière primer is fully breathable, allowing moisture to pass through rather than trapping it within the wall. This helps to keep walls dry and healthy over time — particularly important in older or traditional buildings where moisture movement and airflow are key. It can be applied easily on most surfaces, including brick, stone, plaster, plasterboard, and fibre-reinforced gypsum board, making it a versatile choice for a wide range of projects.

Composition
Aged filtered lime putty – provides a smooth, breathable and durable base.
Calcium carbonate – offers a traditional soft, chalky look.
Marble powder – finely ground natural marble enhances light reflection and gives a silky finish.
Talc – improves texture and reduces brush marks for a more even surface.
Linseed oil – a traditional natural oil that improves workability and application.
Starch – plant-derived (corn, wheat or rice) for better consistency and application.
Glycerin – from plant oils, improves texture and flow.
Titanium dioxide – a naturally occurring white pigment for strong coverage and opacity.
Synthetic resin (5%) – improves adhesion on difficult surfaces without compromising breathability.

Application advice
Step 1: Apply one coat of Lime Base Paint (Primer).
Step 2: Apply two or three coats of Tinta Chiara Smooth or Fiorentino Textured Lime Paint as desired.
